When we go to a park for a walk or a jog, we suddenly feel the urge to take our shoes off and walk barefoot through the grass.
Do you also feel the same?
Ever wondered why this happens?

It’s because of our intrinsic connection with Mother Earth. Whether it’s admiring a beautiful flower on the roadside or taking a deep breath of fresh air after spending our time indoors all day. Very often, we all experience a moment of oneness with nature. Even as a child, if you remember, we all spent a good amount of time playing in the dirt, staring at the clouds, lying in the grass & chasing birds, but as we get older, our roles & responsibilities do not allow us to go further than a walk in a park. If you want to go deeper in connection with nature, read on.

There are many ways to reconnect your mind, body, and soul with the natural world around you like grounding, gardening, practicing yoga & more. Today, we are specifically going to talk about how gardening helps us deepen this connection.

Step-by-Step Guide to Set up an Organic Kitchen Garden

While setting up an Organic Kitchen Garden, you need to consider various factors like space, light, time, etc. Here are some levels of setting up a kitchen garden; you can start with the very first one and step up according to your convenience.

Level 1: Growing Sprouts

If you are short on space or new to gardening, try first for the sprouts. Vegetable sprouts are the germinated seeds of your favorite vegetables and are 30 times more nutritious than a full-grown organic vegetable. They are also known as a superfood as they are super healthy and easy to digest as compared to lentil or legume sprouts. We have made a detailed video on growing sprouts with the easiest method i.e. the sprouting jar method.

We have curated a sprouting jar kit that includes all the essential tools required for growing them with a “How to Grow” manual to make it more convenient for you. To know more about it watch its video on our youtube channel Satopradhan. Sprouts are highly pranic food that, when eaten, transfer their life-force energy to you; make sure to add half a cup of sprouts to your daily diet.

Level 2: Microgreens

Microgreens are highly nutritious, tiny, and flavourful baby plants grown in trays using seeds. A microgreen is the immature, tiny edible plant harvested with scissors or a knife within two to three weeks after germination when the plants are up to 2-4 inches tall; it is everything we see above the soil and consume from stem to leaves. This is one of the things you can grow no matter where you live. After practical research, we have found the easiest way to grow microgreens is by using the bottom watering technique. To know how to grow them using this technique, watch this video.

Just like sprouts, we found it important, especially for beginners, to provide you with a package containing all the resources needed to grow them so you don’t have to think about growing them for so long. We have provided details on using the microgreen kit in our youtube video.

Sprouts and microgreens are highly pranic, living food that transfers their life-force energy to you when eaten. They are 30-40 times more nutritious than their mature counterparts. They add unique flavor & color to food and thus help us appreciate the beauty of food. On the one hand, your taste buds will enjoy their intense flavor & on the other hand, they will feed your body with concentrated nutrients. They can be grown anywhere at any time of the year & they need is a space of a kitchen shelf.

Level 3: Leafy Greens

Also known as salad greens, leaf vegetables, pot herbs, or simply greens, leafy greens are edible plant leaves that we eat as a vegetable. They are green, shallow-rooted plants that come packed with various vitamins and minerals. We have provided a complete knowledge base on growing the salad greens at home here with a unique leafy green kit.

You can grow leafy greens easily, even if you just have a balcony space at home. You can use shallow-height containers to grow them and a location with just 3 to 4 hours of sunlight.

Level 4: Herbs & Flowers

If you have a lawn, backyard, terrace, or just a balcony with a little sunlight; you can easily grow culinary herbs and edible flowers in-ground or in containers. But why should you grow them at your home and what are their benefits? Learn more about them in our youtube video on how to se ‘t up a herbal garden at home.

Level 5: Seasonal Vegetables and Fruits

Once you have mastered the first four levels, its time to grow fruits and vegetables. If you have a large space with a lawn, garden, rooftop, or a plot with full sunlight (at least 6 hours); then go for growing easy-to-grow vegetables & fruits. Vegetables require large containers according to their root depth and fruits also require at least 18″ -24″ wide & deep containers. But before growing them, make sure you go through the above four levels to be a confident and motivated vegetable gardener
