Who invented ladoo, Amma”? This was a common question we often asked as children when our mothers prepared ladoos during the festivals to offer to deities. She would usually poke a ladoo into our mouth as an answer to the question, which would make us momentarily silent and forget the curiosity until the next batch graced the diety’s plate.

Ladoos are a must in every Indian family, marking celebrations from festivals and family gatherings to weddings,  and more rooted in tradition, the sweet start signifies a timeless belief to start something with abundance, positivity, and happiness.

Embrace the Winter Chill with Delicious Ragi-Til Ladoos

Adapting our diet to the climate guards against illnesses and ensures a steady supply of essential nutrients. Raggi ladoos are a perfect snack during the winter season, strengthening our immunity and supplying the steady energy required for the body Now, let’s delve into the key ingredients you would need to make this delicious recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic Jaggery Powder
  • 1 cup Organic Ragi Atta (Finger Millet Flour)
  • ½ cup roasted White Sesame Seeds
  • ¼ cup roasted Almonds, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup roasted Cashews, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup roasted Flax Seed Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • A pinch of Pink Rock Salt

How to Prepare the Ladoos

  1. Roast the ragi flour in a pan until it gives off a nutty aroma.
  2. Stir continuously to avoid burning; it may take 5 – 7 minutes. Once roasted, set it aside to cool.
  3. Dry roast the white or black sesame seeds until they release their aroma.
  4. Dry roast the flaxseeds and grind them to make a fine powder.
  5. In a pan, add jaggery and a small amount of water. Heat on low until the jaggery dissolves completely, forming a thick syrup & set it aside to cool.
  6. Take a large mixing bowl and mix the roasted ragi flour, roasted white sesame seeds, ground roasted flaxseeds, chopped almonds, chopped cashews, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
  7. Pour the jaggery syrup over the dry ingredients.
  8. Add the chashni gradually, ensuring the mixture reaches the desired consistency. Mix well to form a sticky mixture.

Optional: You can add 1-2 tablespoons of raw cold-pressed oil (preferably coconut oil), peanut butter, or desiccated coconut powder. Allow the mixture to cool a little so it’s easy to handle. Grease your palms with a little oil. Shape the mixture into round ladoos.

Wow! We finally made it. The delicious aroma of the ladoos is now wafting through the air.
